The Technical Officer, reporting to the Operation and Maintenance Engineer (O&M Engineer), responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance activities to ensure the efficient and safe functioning of the solar farm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health and Safety: Assist in the implementation and enforce health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel, including conducting regular safety inductions to visitors and other stakeholders.
- Daily Operations: Conduct inspections and monitoring of PV systems as per daily inspection and preventive maintenance plan
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities with contractors and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintenance Planning: Assist in the development and implement maintenance plans to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment, including scheduling preventive maintenance and coordinating corrective maintenance activities.
- Maintenance works: Assist the O&M Engineer organises the work and resources for the execution of the jobs as per deadline and planning
- Troubleshoot and assist suppliers/manufacturers to troubleshoot faulty equipment
- Replacement of defective parts or components
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and assist the O&M Engineer, or delegated team, to analyse performance data to identify trends, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions to optimize energy production and efficiency.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Assist the O&M Engineer to communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including equipment suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to coordinate activities and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Budget Management: Assist the O&M Engineer to develop and manage the O&M budget, including tracking costs and expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Complete relevant maintenance reports on maintenance activities.
- Properly record all PV plant performance values, including energy, power, weather data for billing and performance analysis purposes.
- Assist the O&M Engineer in the preparation of reports on O&M activities, performance metrics, and budgetary matters for management and stakeholders.
Reporting:
- Lessons Learned: Assist the O&M Engineer Document and share lessons learned from O&M and asset management activities to improve processes, efficiency, and decision-making.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation, to minimize the environmental impact of solar farm operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Electric, Electronic or a related field.
- Valid driving licence
- 2/3 years of relevant experience in electrical/electronic or maintenance field.
- Prior experience in solar PV maintenance will be an added advantage
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents (O&M Mauals, Plans, drawings, etc.)
- Be computer literate and ability to use MS software (MS Words, MS Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
